Santa Rosa, Calif. (September 14, 2018). Praesum Communications continues to be a vanguard in networking technology with the introduction of RapidIO® Distributed Queuing Unit (DQU) switching IP, a scalable switch architecture capable of multi-terabit aggregate switching performance.
RapidIO DQU Switch is a set of IP building blocks coupled with a complete development environment that can be used to create an extensive array of RapidIO switch configurations. ” Interconnect issues are the next hurdle to improving system performance,” says Praesum CEO Kent Dahlgren. “Switches are taking the place of traditional core logic as embedded systems move towards switched IO standards such as RapidIO and PCI Express. However, customers must have the ability to tailor the switch to their requirements. This includes a range of port configurations as well as the ability to integrate switch functionality into their SoCs. The modular architecture of DQU switching IP gives our customers this flexibility, which lets them respond to a rapidly changing market.”
RapidIO DQU Switch is ideal for implementing high-performance, switched interconnects in networking and telecommunications equipment, storage subsystems, signal and image processing devices, as well as scalable machine learning systems.
Praesum can rapidly deliver switches with port interfaces customized for specific applications. This includes the number and type of RapidIO ports as well as AXI4 bridge ports which are used for SoC integration. The core has been pipelined for wire speed performance on FPGA as well as ASIC platforms.
RapidIO DQU Switch features include:
- Support for up to 256 ports
- Up to four AXI4 SoC bridge ports
- Options for on-die SRAM or HBM for packet buffer memory
- Dev8 or Dev16 packet forwarding
- Up to 4096 multicast groups
- RapidIO ports to 100 Gbps
RapidIO SwitchKit is currently in customer beta release; general availability will be in Q1 of 2020. It is being demonstrated in hardware with Praesum’s Raptor II Switching Development Platform as well as a variety of FPGA development boards.
